White croc United Football Academy of Kartong recently benefitted from three pairs of new goal posts through a GoFundMe campaign, the goal of this funding campaign is to promote grass root football and empower young players from the community. The campaign was launched on November 29th, 2020 by the executives of the academy with the help of Daniel Rigamonti and his family, Daniel is from Germany and currently on holiday with his family in Kartong village. The academy raised one thousand Euros (€1,000) from eighteen donors.
The focus of the fund is to help the academy cope with some of the challenges the young players face during training sessions. The football academy has five categories, under-6, under-9, under-13, under-15 and under-17, a pair of three new goal posts will mitigate some of the difficulties in training. “In continuing our efforts, we are also ordering sets of branded White croc football academy kits from Europe with the help of Jordan from Netherlands” Daniel said.
The goal posts were made by a local welder man within the community of Kartong, the presentation ceremony began with the academy boys reading out the names of the donors and thank them for their timely support towards empowering grass root football.
The head coach and one of the pioneers of White croc, Amadou Jammeh also thanked the donors. He said, “I am very happy, and I am saying thank you to all those who supported the White croc GoFundMe campaign, it’s a pleasure to have these goal posts here, it’s a dream come true and I am very much grateful”.
At the beginning of the campaign, the target was Three thousand Euros (€ 3,000), to procure other materials such as new footballs, football boots, cons and markers etc. From the target we were able to raise € 1,000, the academy also have a dream of having a football pitch since it is expanding and sharing the same pitch with the community, this pose challenges when community football matches collide with academy’s training periods.
